60 years of the NHS:
our campaign

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the NHS, NHS Employers is helping trusts to celebrate NHS staff and the extraordinary difference they make. The NHS is full of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. In 60 years there's a lot to be proud of.

What's it about?

Our 'extraordinary' campaign is enabling staff in all trusts to create an art installation from a series of postcards. We provide everything you need so that staff can write what makes them proud on a postcard and place it as part of the installation. More than 230 trusts are taking part, each of them helping to create the groundswell for a national campaign with celebrities, media coverage, press advertising and 60th anniversary events up and down the country.

We are also seeking current NHS staff to be part of a book of 60 staff and their stories, representing a snapshot of the NHS today. See our extraordinary stories page for details.

How do I get involved?

If you’re creating an art installation

Take a look at the page on campaign hints and tips and be sure to send the postcards back to us to be featured in the grand finale exhibition. Send your postcards to:

Feature in our online galleries

Whether or not you're doing an exhibition in your trust, you can feature your 60th anniversary celebrations in the galleries on this website. Upload the photos of your celebrations and see what other trusts have been doing. Send us your completed postcards for inclusion in the postcard gallery and post photos and stories of the extraordinary people from your trust to sit alongside messages from celebrities, chief executives, staff, patients and the public saying what makes them proud.

What are the benefits?

  • It can be as big or small as befits your trust -
you tell us what you need.
  • It can be a stand-alone activity or incorporated with other celebrations around the July anniversary.
  • It can sit in a staff cafeteria, or a main reception for the public.

To find out more and take part, email us using the contact details above or fill out the order form.
