60 extraordinary stories: campaign book
NHS Employers’ book to mark the 60th anniversary of the NHS tells the stories of 60 NHS staff - ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Titled extraordinary, it captures NHS staff through photos, quotes and stories, with a focus on what
makes them proud.
From taking pride in creating a garden for patients to taking time to support a child who's lost an eye, the people in this book embody the dedication and spirit that characterises all those who work in the NHS.

Who are the 60 'extraordinary' people?
NHS Employers and the Social Partnership Forum chose 60 people who represented the range of people and careers in the NHS today to be part of the book.We had a range of nominations from across the NHS and chose a selection of people who:
- worked in a range of different health settings
- illustrated the wide variety of careers available in the NHS
- were different ages, representing the youngest employees through to the oldest
- had just started their careers in the NHS as well as those who have been there a few years and those who have been there many years
- represented the diversity of NHS staff, including staff with disabilities, staff from different ethnic backgrounds and staff with different religions and beliefs
- worked in different locations, from central London to the smallest of rural villages
- were proud of the NHS and worked hard to make a difference - however big or small.
Everyone who works in the NHS has an extraordinary story to tell. Upload photos and stories of the extraordinary staff in your trust to our extraordinary people gallery.
